The Wedding Day

You’re almost ready for the church bells to chime. This
is where all the organization and delegation, the planning and
dreaming, come together. Most of the topics we’ve discussed so
far involved the supporting characters in this show business event that
is your perfect wedding: caterers, photographers, wedding planners,
and florists, all aimed at getting the church or synagogue and the
reception hall beautifully ready to delight the senses of your guests.
We’ve discussed inviting those guests, registering for gifts, and throwing
the biggest party of your lifetime (and a few smaller parties). Now it’s
time to talk about the two people most central to this undertaking:
the bride and groom.
It’s time to think about what you’ll be doing on the day of your wedding
and what you can do beforehand to prepare for those tasks; if you
think about it, what you really need to do is learn how to put on a
good show. Throughout the whole process, don’t stop thinking about
the vows you’ll be taking; consider what they mean, and prepare yourselves
for a lifetime of shared living. In short, now that everything is
ready, the cake is ordered, and the flower petals are about to be strewn
in your path, it’s time to talk about the core of the matter—getting and
staying married.
