Considerations When Training Outdoors
There are advantages and disadvantages of outdoors but the safety of the
client is paramount. When training outdoors, pay attention to the
following tips:
- Take along a first aid kit in case of emergencies.
- Be aware of any special medical conditions of the client- e.g.
diabetic, asthmatic, on medication, etc. - Make sure you know the location of the nearest hospital.
- If the client is asthmatic, ensure that he/she brings along an
inhaler. - Use sun-screen and make sure that the client is appropriately
dressed for the outdoors, including proper shoes. - Make sure the client has water or isotonic drinks.
- Have some energy bars available just in case.
- Take a fully charged mobile phone along.
- Inform park officers and the client’s next-of-kin when going
hiking.
